There I was, just a girl and her surfboard, in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, with nothing around but the beautiful blue ocean. The water was warm, and the waves were high. I couldn’t see any of my fellow surfers, I guess they were closer to the beach, where the waves were calmer. I get bored with calm waves, I crave the thrill and excitement of giant, seven foot waves, that made me feel as if I could touch the sky.
I couldn’t stop the momentum of my journey through the Pacific Ocean. The smell and taste of salt water all around me, and the heat of the bright sun on my back, was a feeling that brought me closer to nirvana. I guess I left my eyes closed for too long, because before I knew it, a giant wave sent me crashing into the ocean. It felt like somebody slapped me and I could still feel the sting of their hand on my face. After what seemed like an eternity, I finally opened my eyes to discover a school of yellow and silver fish swimming toward me. Some brushed past my skin, leaving tiny cuts and scrapes on my arms and legs. I looked closely at my arm and noticed the blood trickling from my arm. It wasn’t a lot, but it was enough to welcome my next unexpected visitor....the SHARK!!!!!!!!!
As I was swimming towards the top, I noticed a hammerhead shark in the distance. He seemed intent on catching me before I reached my board. I tried to swim as fast as I could, but he kept coming closer and closer, while the surface of the water seemed farther and farther. My surfboard, my lifeline, was not within reach, while the shark was savoring what could potentially be his afternoon snack. Just as the shark was finally near me, I reached my board and paddled to shore. I don’t know why he didn’t chase me or knock me off the board. All I know is that nature was on my side today.
